The journey of Civil Service 2041 has started to build Smart Bangladesh
In order to build a smart Bangladesh in 2041, to provide public services and to solve the problems of the people of the country through govt. To this end, a2i organized a seminar on 'Role of Civil Service in Building Smart Bangladesh 2041' under the auspices of the Cabinet Division at Biam Foundation Auditorium in the capital on Saturday. Cabinet Secretary Mr. Khandaker Anwarul Islam was present as the Chief Guest at the seminar. NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology was present as the special guest.
Mr. Md. Samsul Arefin, Secretary (Coordination and Reforms) of the Cabinet Division and Dr. K.S. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir and Anu Chowdhury, Policy Advisor, a2i. UN Under-Secretary-General (Economic and Social Affairs) Liu Zhenmin has sent a written congratulatory message on the launch of the Civil Service 2041.
Speaking as the chief guest, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said the job of the bureaucracy is to ensure the welfare of the people by making maximum use of the country's resources as per the needs of the people. We have succeeded in overcoming all obstacles in the process of building a digital Bangladesh. We need to be prepared for the next generation of governance. The main challenge will be to develop all branches of administration, management and governance. We have to move forward keeping in mind the global and national context. Initially you have to set small goals and work according to the plan to achieve them. Following which we are also working on the implementation of the intermediate plan for 2030. Moreover, the steps that need to be taken to deal with the situation that Bangladesh will lose after SDG graduation should also be kept in mind.
Speaking as the special guest, NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Department, said that there is no alternative to technology to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh. At present broadband connection has reached 3600 unions of the country. High speed broadband connection will be provided to the rest of the unions of the country in phases. Information on portals needs to be updated regularly to provide reliable data through government websites. In addition, every department has to ensure cyber security.
Speaking on the occasion, KM Ali Azam, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, said that the training curriculum for public administration has already been redesigned to create technology-friendly manpower to deal with the situation and what kind of technology will be used in 2041. However, in order to increase the capacity of those who will lead at that time, the students in the university have to be educated in their suitable education. At the same time, there should be a specific plan for the development of the private sector.
It is to be noted that in the context of building a better Bangladesh, Digital Leadership Journey has been undertaken to build the right knowledge, skills and qualified civil service for the implementation of 'Vision 2041: Smart Bangladesh'. 'Civil Service 2041: Digital Leadership Journey', which is being run by A2I, is a guiding and helpful platform for a government official engaged in public service to build a better society and change the course of social life. Through the Civil Service 2041, the skills, objectives and capabilities of government officials will be further enhanced through Govt. Leadership, technology-friendly, The Digital Leadership Journey will enable government officials to provide data-dependent and expected quality people-friendly services. The 'Civil Service 2041: Digital Leadership Journey' will also work to promote collaborative education and thinking among national and international organizations with the participation of this public-private-academic class.
Among others, senior secretaries, secretaries, vice-chancellors, joint secretaries, heads of various training institutes, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, members of civil service and heads of various research institutes were present online from the field. Also present were senior officials from the Cabinet Division, ICT Division, a2i and various ministries, divisions and departments of the government.
